Internet Engineering Task Force. A subgroup of the Internet Society responsible for recommending protocols and procedures used over the Internet. It is composed of representatives from vendor; government and academic communities; and is divided into six subcommittees (with further divisions into working groups). The chairperson sits on the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). IETF working group meetings are open to the public. See IAB.
