Integrity is defined as "Guarding against improper information modification or destruction, and includes ensuring information non-repudiation and authenticity"
A loss of integrity is the unauthorized modification or destruction of information An operating system's ability to ensure that only authorized users can enter a privileged state (such as supervisor mode). Integrity is a prerequisite for security in an operating system. The term is not synonymous with security; but security requires it. In database technology; it is a broad term denoting the correct state of the database.
